Youth Serve: Summer 2017

Our high schoolers served God in New Orleans for a week through ecosystem work & construction work. Here's what they said about the experience:

My favorite part of the Mission Trip wasn’t working, visiting the French Quarter, or the beach, it was the pleasure of meeting Smitty an 87-year-old man who was next door to us at our worksite.  Smitty has quite a personality, which is a huge understatement and at first I thought he was a little crazy.  But after a couple of days, he took us in to his library which had the most books I’ve ever seen in a house before.  – James Drenner
On the second day working with Lower Nine, Andy, Dan, my mom, and I volunteered for some “siding” work that turned out instead to be a painting job that involved very tall and dangerous looking scaffold.  Now I really hate heights and upon arriving I had a mini panic attack inside of me, but I was able to stomach it since I could work on the lower section of the scaffold that seemed secure.   – Avery Kahl
Each evening during the Sr. High Mission Trip we gathered for group bible study.  Our theme this week was “Finding Home.”  We looked at scripture and discussed different concepts of home… Where is home? What is home? Spiritual Home, finding home in yourself, and finding home through others.   – Janet Hayes

Our middle school youth traveled to Little Rock in June. They served at a soup kitchen and then packed hygiene kits at the Disaster Assistance Center.

All youth, middle and high school students, meet together for Sunday school (9:50 a.m.) and youth group (Sunday evenings, 5:00-7:00 p.m.). Check the online calendar for upcoming events.
